The proportion of female founders in German start-ups is just under 12 per cent nationwide and only 7.1 per cent in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern*. WITENO GmbH and Stralsund University of Applied Sciences want to change this with a co-operation. They are bringing the live event Female StartAperitivo to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The Female StartAperitivo was founded last year by the Hamburg Investors Network (HIN). The aim is to offer female start-up teams a stage and help them to make a successful investment. As the launch event in Hamburg was a great success, the northern federal states are now also taking part and organising a pre-event in each case. The respective winning teams will travel to the main event in Hamburg, which will take place on 15 September 2022.
The university and WITENO GmbH would like to open up the event and offer a stage for female start-ups. To this end, they are looking for (technically innovative) start-up teams that are at least 50 per cent female. Whether they are looking for funding or not is of secondary importance for this first format.
The teams presented themselves on 29 June 2022 on stage at the Digital Innovation Centre, Am Schießwall 1, in Greifswald. The first two winning teams that impress with their pitches will win a ticket to the big event in Hamburg. The closing date for applications is 1 June 2022, but the event should provide added value for all participants - through the option to expand their own network, self-promotion, stage experience and an attractively designed evening, where, for example, founder Heidrun Twesten, known from the EQUALIZER podcast by/for female founders, will appear as a keynote speaker.
