Teams from Stapellauf NORD°OST° rock the ideas competition

In Greifswald it is called "Unique", at the other universities and in the state it is called "inspired". The ideas competition for research locations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In two categories - "Students and trainees" and "Researchers, graduates and external parties" - the best teams and individual founders are first determined in local competitions at the participating university and college locations. These have then secured a ticket to take part in the nationwide ideas competition.

On 18 July, the most original business ideas and pioneering research results of 2024 were selected for all university locations in M-V and awarded prizes in the auditorium of the University of Rostock. The 20 winning teams and individual founders of the local ideas competitions at the university locations presented their ideas to a jury of entrepreneurs, scientists and political representatives in Rostock. The outcome of the evening was extremely positive for Stapellauf NORD°OST°. No fewer than four placings and a special prize from the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce went to teams and founders from the three universities in the north-east - all of whom were supervised and supported by our start-up agency.

The Greifswald team "LyoThroReg" was delighted to take 1st place and the Neubrandenburg team "ALPhy Consult" 2nd place in the category "Researchers, graduates and externals". LyoThroReg has developed an innovative production process that enables the production of freeze-dried human platelet lysate from platelet concentrates. The freeze-dried platelet lysate can be used in cell biology research for the development of cell-based drugs, particularly for cartilage replacement therapy. ALPhy Consult, which emerged from a research project in the "Change through innovation in the region" funding programme, is currently testing the use of cold plasmas in agriculture and the food industry to combat pests and pathogens. The project is already heading towards an EXIST funding application.

In the "Students and Trainees" category, the "AdhAM" team from Stralsund University of Applied Sciences came in 2nd and Laura Hartmann from Neubrandenburg came in 3rd with her project "Metabolism in MV". "AdhAM" aims to optimise the design of plastic components that are produced using the 3D printing process, while
Laura Hartmann wants to realise her idea of an agency for nutrition education for children. The jury also decided to award a special prize in the "Students and Trainees" category, donated by the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce, for the "Brave Buddy" idea by Paula Straub from Greifswald. Paula wants to use assertiveness training to provide children aged 5-12 with practical, high-quality strategies for dealing with challenges in everyday school life and protecting themselves from bullying.
