On 13 July, the participants from "Groot" and "Geniusforfuture" will compete in the state final of the Inspired ideas competition for MV in Rostock. They won the first two places in the local decision of the Inspired ideas competition at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences on 23 June. "There were difficult decisions to be made and in some cases only very subtle differences between the teams that led to the final ranking," says Prof Dr Heiko Auerbach, "but the discussions were heated".
The idea behind "Groot" is an intelligent plant system for the jungle at home, consisting of an app and sensors to monitor the plants. Mechanical engineering student Valentin Müller-Judex has successfully competed with it. "Geniusforfuture" was jointly developed by business administration student Marie-Theres Ahlgrimm and Stralsund entrepreneur Tino Härle. It is a matching platform for pupils and companies in the MV region. First place, which went to "Groot", is endowed with 1500 euros and was donated by Sparkasse Vorpommern. Geniusforfuture received 1234 euros from the Stralsund SME Association for its second place. Third place went to mechanical engineering student Mustafa Rahmati with a sensor system for the visually impaired and blind for visually optimised perception of the outside world - "VIZ Touch".
Further placings:
ml&s GmbH & Co. KG awarded the special prize for technology (€1000) to Groot. Adesso AG honoured "Geniusforfuture" with a special IT prize (€500). Intero Technologies awarded a coaching prize for the use of CRM systems to "Groot".
Project Bay supports the idea providers with a workation start-up package consisting of coaching and a stay in Lietzow for "Social & Green Entrepreneurship"; it went to "VIZ Touch". This year, MakerPort Stralsund offered a new prize, the special "Design Thinking" prize for technical solutions that require prototyping. The prize went to "Faraday", the idea of Maximilian Kruse and Jean Jacques Berry, which is based on an innovative induction system for kitchen appliances to avoid cable chaos. The MakerPort supports "Faraday" in testing and developing or building the prototypes. The remaining teams were honoured with vouchers from Treibholz, sponsored by the university's sponsorship association.
The national final of Inspired
On 13 July, "Groot" and "Geniusforfuture" will enter the state finals. The most original business ideas and pioneering research results from the state's universities and colleges will be honoured. The aim of the competition, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Economics, Labour and Health of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is to identify innovative technologies and ideas at universities and research institutions and not only support them with financial resources, but also with valuable contacts, intensive coaching and important empirical values.
The nationwide winners of Inspired will present themselves to an independent jury consisting of high-ranking representatives from business, science and politics on 13 July 2022 at the University of Rostock. The award ceremony will then take place in the auditorium of the main building of the University of Rostock. All winners of the state-wide "inspired" ideas competition will receive two prizes for their participation. Firstly, they will receive a further education voucher and secondly, they will be part of the Berlin Valley Tour.
